Indian passport, visa and consular services in Australia will officially resume through VFS Global from 23 July 2026, with the High Commission of India announcing the launch of upgraded Indian Consular Application Centres (ICACs) in six Australian cities.
The move brings an end to weeks of disruption for thousands of Indian nationals, Australian travellers and members of the Indian-Australian community after services were suspended following a legal dispute over the outsourcing contract.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, the High Commission of India in Canberra confirmed that VFS Global will once again serve as the authorised provider for Consular, Passport and Visa (CPV) services across Australia.
The new ICAC network will operate from upgraded facilities in:
- Adelaide: Suite 8.01, Level 8, 111 Gawler Place, Adelaide SA 5000
- Brisbane: Suite 0201, Level 2, 127 Creek Street, Brisbane City QLD 4000
- Canberra: Level 6, 40 Marcus Clarke Street, Canberra ACT 2601
- Melbourne: Ground Floor, 324 St Kilda Road, Melbourne VIC 3004
- Perth: Ground Floor, 23 Barrack Street, Perth WA 6000
- Sydney: Level 9, 22–24 Market Street, Sydney NSW 2000
According to the High Commission, the centres have been established with upgraded facilities and infrastructure to cater to current demand while improving service delivery for applicants across Australia.
All centres will operate Monday to Friday from 8:30am to 4:00pm, excluding Australian public holidays and holidays observed by the High Commission of India or the respective Consulates General.
Applicants have been encouraged to book appointments online before visiting the centres.
The announcement provides long-awaited clarity for applicants whose travel plans, passport renewals and visa applications were thrown into uncertainty after VFS operations were halted earlier this month.
The suspension followed a Delhi High Court ruling concerning the Ministry of External Affairs’ tender process for outsourcing consular services, prompting the temporary cessation of services in Australia while legal proceedings continued.
Wednesday’s announcement confirms that VFS Global has resumed operations under the new arrangement and will once again provide passport, visa and other consular services on behalf of the Government of India.
The High Commission also reminded applicants that VFS Global is the only authorised service delivery provider for Indian passport, visa and consular services in Australia.
