Aidan Becker, an off-duty security guard, died on Friday evening after police allege he intervened when four teenagers attempted to rob the schoolboy just before 6pm at Mernda Railway Station, in Melbourne’s outer north.

According to NSW Police, several teenage boys entered the Burwood Road store about 2.20am and allegedly attempted to steal items. When Shah – a staff member at the store – intervened, he was allegedly stabbed by one of the boys.

“I’ve never seen anything like this. They’ve just chosen this house and destroyed a family,”

Emergency services were alerted after multiple calls were made to Triple Zero (000) reporting a two-vehicle collision.

The teen's motivations were not religious but stemmed from exposure to extreme violent content online.
