The Albanese government has been in talks with Landbridge Group, whose parent company is headquartered in Shandong province, China, to return the port to an Australian owner, following an election promise.
Across Australia, the top five international visitor markets in the year ending March 2026 were New Zealand, China, the United Kingdom, the United States and India.
The expansion comes alongside a broader package of increases to social security payments and family assistance measures that will take effect from July 1.
