Mrs Chandra has been recognised for decades of community service focused on multicultural engagement, cultural organisation, and support for Indian-Australian community initiatives across Brisbane and Queensland.
Alam began volunteering with the Australian Red Cross in Victoria in the mid-2000s, serving in emergency response and support roles during disaster events, including bushfires and flood emergencies.
The tribunal has repeatedly found that later applicants had significantly lower-profile political activity and provided insufficient evidence that Indian authorities were aware of their involvement.
