Officers from the Royal Canadian Mounted Police were called to the area shortly after 11pm following reports that several people had been involved in an altercation.
Ten people, including a suspected shooter, have died following a shooting in Tumbler Ridge, a small town in British Columbia, Canadian authorities say.
British Columbia Premier David Eby questioned how such individuals could be allowed to pursue asylum claims based on fears of returning to India, while their alleged criminal activities continued to affect residents in Canada.
