One Nation officially becomes Fiji’s newest political party

on

Former FijiFirst members have officially registered One Nation as a political party after Fiji’s Registrar of Political Parties approved the application, making it the country’s tenth registered political party.

The new party includes former FijiFirst members Faiyaz Koya, Adi Selai Adimaitoga, Sanjay Salend Kirpal and former FijiFirst Vice President Ravindran Kumaran.

Supervisor of Elections and Registrar of Political Parties Ana Mataiciwa confirmed that One Nation had met all legal requirements for registration under the Political Parties (Registration, Conduct, Funding and Disclosures) Act 2013.

The approval follows the party’s resubmission of its application on 21 May 2026 after its initial bid was rejected.

The group’s first application, submitted under the name FijiansFirst, was refused because electoral authorities found the proposed name too closely resembled the now-deregistered FijiFirst party and was likely to cause confusion among voters under the provisions of the Act.

Following the statutory public objections process, the Registrar determined that the revised application for One Nation satisfied all legal requirements.

As a registered political party, One Nation must now comply with its statutory obligations, including submitting financial declarations and other required disclosures within the prescribed timeframes.

The registration comes as Fiji’s political landscape continues to evolve ahead of the country’s next general election. With the addition of One Nation, Fiji now has 10 officially registered political parties.
