India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi presented Prime Minister Anthony Albanese with a carefully curated selection of gifts celebrating India’s cultural heritage, musical legacy and agricultural excellence during his official visit to Australia.
Among the standout gifts was an Indian Premium Coffee Box, highlighting the diversity and quality of coffee grown across India’s major coffee-producing regions.
Union Minister for Commerce and Industry Piyush Goyal described the gift as a celebration of India’s globally recognised coffee industry.
“India’s coffee craft in a box! Prime Minister Narendra Modi gifted Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese the Indian Premium Coffee Box, celebrating India’s rich coffee heritage that captures unique flavours shaped by our diverse terrains and distinct processes.”
He added that the gift reflected “India’s growing stature as a producer of world-class, sustainably grown coffee” and honoured the dedication of Indian coffee growers, processors and roasters.
The premium collection features carefully selected coffees from different regions of India, each showcasing distinctive flavour profiles shaped by geography, altitude and processing methods, including washed, natural and honey processing techniques.
The gift also highlights the evolution of India’s coffee sector, with its increasing emphasis on quality, sustainability and value addition while promoting environmentally responsible cultivation practices.
In another nod to India’s creative heritage, Prime Minister Modi presented Albanese with a vinyl edition of the iconic Colonial Cousins album, celebrating one of the most influential collaborations in contemporary Indian music.
Released in the 1990s, the landmark album brought together renowned musicians Hariharan and Leslie Lewis, blending Indian classical music with Western pop, rock and acoustic influences to create a sound that resonated with audiences across generations.
The limited-edition vinyl serves as both a collector’s item and a tribute to India’s rich musical traditions, celebrating a pioneering fusion that helped redefine Indian popular music.
The gifts formed part of a broader exchange reflecting the growing strategic and cultural partnership between India and Australia, showcasing India’s craftsmanship, artistic innovation and agricultural excellence on the global stage.
