Indian-origin pole vaulter Khushnoor Rungi has been selected to represent Australia at the World U20 Athletics Championships, capping off a remarkable season that has established her among the country’s brightest young athletics talents.
The Maribyrnong Sports Academy athlete secured her place in the Australian team after winning the Women’s U20 Pole Vault title at the Australian U20 Athletics Championships, clearing an impressive 4.06 metres.
The national title followed another major milestone just three weeks earlier, when Rungi recorded a personal best clearance of 4.17 metres, underlining her rapid progress and consistency heading into international competition.
Over the past three years, Rungi has established herself as one of Australia’s leading under-20 pole vaulters, consistently finishing among the nation’s top two athletes in her age category.
Her selection means she will wear the green and gold at one of the world’s premier junior athletics events, competing against the best emerging athletes from around the globe.
Maribyrnong Sports Academy congratulated Rungi on her selection, describing her achievement as the result of years of hard work, dedication and perseverance.
