An Australian woman who spent a month travelling solo across India has shared a heartfelt account of her journey, saying the kindness and generosity of strangers made her fall in love with the country.

Paige, an Australian traveller who documents her adventures on social media, recently posted a video on Instagram describing why she believes Indians are “the most hospitable people ever”. Her reflections, based on experiences during a month-long trip across the country, have resonated with thousands online.

Travelling alone, Paige admitted she was initially nervous about returning to India. However, she said those concerns quickly disappeared as she encountered people who consistently went out of their way to help her.

One of the first examples she shared occurred shortly after arriving in Delhi late at night. Due to road closures around her hotel, her Uber driver parked as close as possible before personally walking her to the entrance to ensure she arrived safely.

In another incident, Paige visited a pharmacy where the cashier did not have enough change to complete the transaction. Rather than dismissing the shortfall, the pharmacist handed her a complimentary bottle of hand sanitiser to make up the difference.

“These are just a few examples,” Paige said, adding that acts of kindness like these were common throughout her journey.

The traveller also detailed several other memorable encounters in the caption accompanying her video. She recalled a woman helping her find her way to a bus station after she became lost, a restaurant owner offering her a ride on his scooter when she was caught in heavy rain, and an elderly woman insisting she try a plate of freshly made pakoras.

According to Paige, these experiences reinforced her belief that India is one of the most welcoming countries she has visited.

“It’s a hill I would die on that Indians are the most hospitable people ever,” she said.

Reflecting on her month-long journey, Paige said the warmth she encountered wherever she travelled was one of the main reasons she had developed such a strong affection for India.

“I couldn’t have felt more welcome,” she said, adding that the generosity of ordinary people had left a lasting impression and made her solo travel experience both memorable and rewarding.
