The countdown has begun for Melbourne Meets Modi, with organisers confirming Marvel Stadium as the venue for the 9 July 2026 community reception in honour of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The latest event update says gates will open at 3.30 pm, with registered attendees urged to arrive early and allow enough time for security screening and ticket verification.
The Australia India Foundation, which is hosting the event, has asked attendees to keep their digital pass ready and carry a valid government-issued photo identification for entry.
The event is being promoted as a major Indian diaspora gathering in Melbourne and is expected to bring together community organisations, volunteers, business leaders, students, professionals and members of the wider Australia-India community.
The official Melbourne Meets Modi website says the Australia India Foundation will organise and host the community reception to honour Prime Minister Modi during his visit to Australia, with support from Welcome Partner Organisations and local volunteers. Registrations for the event are now closed.
A previous event listing for Melbourne Meets Modi confirmed Marvel Stadium, 740 Bourke Street, Docklands VIC 3008, as the event location.
Organisers have issued four key instructions for registered attendees:
- Arrive early
- Keep your digital pass ready
- Carry valid government-issued ID
- Allow sufficient time for security screening and ticket verification
“Your cooperation will help us ensure a safe and seamless experience for everyone,” organisers said in the event update.
The event poster also reminds attendees to carry their digital pass and valid photo identification for entry.
The community reception will take place on 9 July 2026 at Marvel Stadium in Melbourne, with gates opening from 3.30 pm onwards.
The event is expected to be one of the largest Indian-Australian community gatherings in Victoria, coming as Australia and India continue to deepen ties across diplomacy, trade, education, skills, migration and people-to-people links.
Earlier reporting said registrations had approached 26,000 after the event portal opened for individuals not registering through community organisations. The registration portal had listed the general registration as finished, with media credentials to open later.
The Australia Today reported that more than 400 organisations had registered as Welcome Partners and nearly 31,000 people had signed up before registrations closed in June.
The event will be closely watched by the Indian diaspora across Australia, particularly in Victoria, where the Indian-origin community has grown rapidly over the past decade.
Organisers say they are looking forward to welcoming registered attendees to what they have described as a “historic community reception”.
Attendees are being urged not to leave arrival until the last minute, with large crowds, ticket checks and security screening expected at the venue.
