Fiji’s Ministry of Immigration will streamline the administrative processing of relevant work permit applications from September 1, 2026, in a move aimed at making the system faster and more efficient for employers and applicants.

Under the new arrangement, five administrative requirements will be removed from the standard documentation required for relevant work permit applications.

These are,

• Tripartite Agreement

• Advertisement Requirement

• Training Plan

• Local Understudy Requirement

The Ministry said removing the requirements would allow officials to focus on the statutory and regulatory requirements that apply to each application.

The changes will not affect Fiji’s immigration, security or compliance requirements.

All relevant work permit applications will continue to be assessed under Fiji’s immigration legislation and applicable policies and procedures.

The Ministry said the reform forms part of its broader efforts to improve the efficiency and responsiveness of immigration services while maintaining necessary regulatory safeguards.
