Dr Ram has been appointed Honorary Consul General of the Republic of Fiji in Hyderabad, with jurisdiction over Telangana, Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka, as Fiji seeks to strengthen diplomatic, trade and investment ties with India.
A physician, entrepreneur and international relations professional, Dr Ram said he looked forward to deepening Fiji–India relations and fostering greater cooperation in trade, investment, healthcare and people-to-people connections.
In his new diplomatic role, he will focus on promoting bilateral trade, attracting investment and building partnerships between governments, businesses, investors and institutions in Fiji and India.
His priorities include cooperation across healthcare, pharmaceuticals, life sciences, biotechnology, information technology and emerging technologies.
Dr Ram’s professional background includes an MBBS from Guntur Medical College and a clinical fellowship in Urologic Oncology at Mount Sinai Medical Center in the United States. His medical experience also informs his interest in healthcare collaboration and medical value travel.
He said effective diplomacy extended beyond formal engagement by creating opportunities, building trust, connecting markets and delivering tangible outcomes for people and businesses.
The appointment adds to Fiji’s consular representation in India and provides a platform to expand engagement across three major southern Indian states.
Through the role, Dr Ram will work to strengthen institutional partnerships, encourage economic cooperation and deepen the longstanding connections between Fiji and India.
