The family of Lovedeep Singh Sandhu is seeking financial support to bring his body back to India after he died from severe burn injuries at Waikato Hospital on 4 November 2026 – his birthday.

According to a Givealittle fundraising page established by his cousin, Neelkamal Singh Sandhu, Lovedeep suffered severe burn injuries and was admitted to Waikato Hospital, where he received emergency medical treatment.

Despite the efforts of medical staff, he could not recover from his injuries and died on his birthday.

“Losing our brother on his own birthday has made this tragedy even more heartbreaking for our entire family,” Neelkamal wrote on the fundraising page.

“A day that should have been filled with happiness will now forever be remembered with sadness,”

The fundraiser aims to cover the costs of repatriating Lovedeep’s body to India, including transportation and funeral expenses. Any remaining funds will be used to provide financial support to his grieving parents.

Neelkamal, who is organising the appeal on behalf of the family, has asked the community to contribute whatever they can or share the fundraising page to help bring Lovedeep home.

“Our greatest wish is to bring Lovedeep’s body back to India so our family can perform his final rites and give him the dignified farewell he deserves.”

The family has appealed for donations and community support during what it describes as an extremely difficult time.

The circumstances surrounding the incident that caused the burns have not been disclosed.
