Indian-origin real estate agent Ajay Malik, 37, was left fighting for his life after being viciously mauled by two dogs while running through a park in Brisbane’s north.

As per 7News, the attack occurred at about 6.15pm on Friday on a bikeway through Seventh Brigade Park on Kittyhawk Drive in Chermside.

Malik was rushed to Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital in a critical condition. He is now stable but has suffered injuries to his face and both arms.

His wife told 7News that the family was shocked and traumatised by the incident, warning that Malik faces a long road to recovery.

Brisbane City Council told 7News, “Our thoughts and prayers are with the victim of last night’s horrific dog attack.”

A major search was launched after the two dogs escaped following the attack. Police and other authorities searched for the animals, with one dog captured about two hours after the incident. The second remained missing until Saturday.

Both dogs have since been surrendered to Brisbane City Council.

“Both dogs involved are now in Council possession and a decision on their future will be made as soon as possible.”

The dogs’ owner, Layla Evans, was arrested shortly after the attack over an unrelated matter but has not been charged in connection with the incident, according to 7NEWS.

Evans reportedly said she had been staying in a tent at the park and that the dogs had been locked inside before escaping.

Brisbane City Council has issued orders for the dogs to be euthanised, with Evans given 14 days to appeal.
