Foreign Minister Penny Wong will travel to India next week for the Quad Foreign Ministers’ Meeting in New Delhi, as India, Australia, Japan and the United States seek to strengthen cooperation in the Indo-Pacific region.

India’s External Affairs Minister Dr S. Jaishankar will host Senator Wong, Japanese Foreign Minister Toshimitsu Motegi and US Secretary of State Marco Rubio in New Delhi on 26 May.

According to India’s Ministry of External Affairs, the meeting will focus on advancing Quad cooperation in line with the group’s vision for a “Free and Open Indo-Pacific”.

The ministers are expected to review progress on ongoing Quad initiatives, discuss regional developments in the Indo-Pacific and exchange views on broader international issues of mutual concern.

The meeting follows earlier Quad discussions held in Washington DC on 1 July 2025.

During their visit to India, the foreign ministers are also expected to hold bilateral meetings with Jaishankar and call on Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The Quad grouping — comprising India, Australia, Japan and the United States — has increasingly focused on strategic cooperation in areas including maritime security, critical technologies, supply chains, disaster response and regional stability in the Indo-Pacific.
