42-year-old Adelaide man charged with alleged murder of Supriya Thakur

Vikrant Thakur appeared in the Adelaide Magistrates Court on Monday but did not seek bail.

A 42-year-old man charged with alleged murder over the death of a woman at a Northfield home in Adelaide’s northern suburbs will remain in custody until at least April next year.

It is reported by ABC News that Vikrant Thakur appeared in the Adelaide Magistrates Court on Monday but did not seek bail.

The victim identified as Supriya Thakur, a young mother with dreams of becoming a registered nurse, leaves behind a teenage son.

Police said emergency services were called to the home at around 8:30pm on Sunday following reports of a domestic assault.

Officers found 36-year-old Supriya unconscious and attempted CPR, but she could not be revived.

Prosecutors asked the court to adjourn the case for 16 weeks while they await key evidence, including a post-mortem report and DNA results.

Vikrant Thakur is due to return to court next year.
