At least 12 people have been killed and 309 injured in a missile attack on King Khalid International Airport in Saudi Arabia’s capital, Riyadh, prompting the suspension of airport operations and widespread flight disruptions.
Saudi Arabia’s General Authority of Civil Aviation confirmed that the victims included four Saudi nationals, two Bangladeshis, citizens of the United States, Egypt, Jordan, Syria, Sudan and one Palestinian. Some of the injured were reported to be in critical condition. Authorities suspended operations to assess damage and ensure the safety of airport facilities, while flights were cancelled or diverted.
The attack on Saturday (10 October 2026) was the third reported strike targeting Riyadh’s airport within a week. Saudi Arabia blamed Yemen’s Iran-aligned Houthi movement, as fighting between the kingdom and the group intensified. A separate projectile was also reported near King Fahd International Airport in Dammam. US President Donald Trump said Washington was considering whether to join Saudi-led military strikes against the Houthis, raising concerns about a further escalation of the regional conflict.
