Audio deepfakes have become a serious cybercrime threat, with criminals using cloned voices to bypass voice biometrics, impersonate public figures and spread disinformation.

In 2007, after completing a PhD in Nano-biotechnology at the National Chemical Laboratory in India, Prof. Bansal migrated to Australia to join the University of Melbourne as a Postdoctoral Fellow.
Plans are also in progress to digitise more than 60,000 Girmit records and establish a dedicated museum to preserve this history for future generations.
