Calling the Indian Diaspora a 'human bridge' between the two countries, Mr Charlton, who is a Federal Member from Parramatta, mentioned that Parramatta was extremely lucky to have a large population of people of Indian heritage.
"He went too far too soon, putting his family in a loss which can never be filled. While studying he was also providing financial support to his parents back home."
Andrew Charlton stopped short of committing to the name 'Little India' for the precinct however he said he will work with the council and community groups on an appropriate name.
The crash killed 42-year-old mother Nancy Lefrançois and her 11-year-old son Loïc Chevalier, who were travelling in a passenger vehicle struck in the collision.
