The 35-year-old Indian citizen arrived in New Zealand on a visitor visa in April 2023 and applied for refugee and protected-person status three months later.
The cultural exchange came during Modi’s visit to Auckland, where he joined Prime Minister Luxon for a special sporting showcase marking 100 years of sporting ties between India and New Zealand.
PM Modi is scheduled to arrive in Auckland on Friday and depart on Saturday, marking the first visit by an Indian Prime Minister to New Zealand in 40 years.
"The department’s investigation found no grounds warranting Mr Singh’s removal from the Office of Justice of the Peace and found no breach of the relevant Act or Code of Conduct in relation to the allegations examined."
Defence and law enforcement workers receive the highest priority, followed by construction, healthcare and teaching workers who are already in Australia.
