A 40-year-old Indian national wanted in Germany for attempted murder has been arrested by US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) in California after authorities discovered he had entered the United States illegally from Mexico.

According to a statement issued by ICE San Francisco, Sandeep Singh was taken into custody in Fairfield, California, and is currently being held in ICE detention pending immigration proceedings.

In a post on social media platform X, ICE San Francisco said: “ICE San Francisco arrested illegal alien Sandeep Singh, 40, of India, in Fairfield, CA. Singh illegally entered the U.S. from Mexico in 2023. Singh is wanted in Germany for attempted murder. He is in ICE custody pending immigration proceedings.”

US authorities said Singh entered the United States unlawfully through the southern border in 2023 after crossing from Mexico. His arrest came after ICE officers identified him as being the subject of an international warrant issued by German authorities.

While ICE confirmed that Singh is wanted in Germany for attempted murder, officials have not publicly released details about the alleged offence, the circumstances surrounding the case, or when the warrant was issued.

Singh will remain in ICE custody while immigration proceedings continue. Those proceedings will determine whether he is removed from the United States and potentially transferred to German authorities.

The arrest comes amid ongoing efforts by US immigration authorities to identify and detain foreign nationals who are subject to criminal warrants or who are considered public safety concerns.

ICE regularly works with international law enforcement agencies and foreign governments to locate individuals wanted for serious offences and to facilitate deportation or extradition processes where applicable.

No further information about Singh’s immigration case or the German investigation has been released at this stage.
