India has entered the global record books after unfurling the worldโ€™s largest national flag underwater in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, in a coordinated effort involving more than 200 divers.

The record-setting event took place at Radhanagar Beach on Swaraj Dweep, where a massive 60 by 40 metre Indian tricolour was deployed beneath the sea. The feat has been officially recognised by Guinness World Records.

The complex underwater operation brought together multiple agencies, including the Indian Navy, Indian Coast Guard, police, forest department personnel and professional divers, all working in close coordination.

Senior officials, including Lieutenant Governor Devendra Kumar Joshi, were present to witness the achievement, which was formally certified on-site by a Guinness adjudicator.

Officials said the initiative was aimed at boosting the global profile of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands as a premier destination for scuba diving, marine tourism and large-scale international events.

The region is already known for its rich marine biodiversity and clear waters, attracting adventure tourists from around the world.

Young participants were also part of the record attempt, with three school students among the divers describing the experience as both emotional and exhilarating.

Authorities say the record is part of a broader push to promote sustainable tourism and showcase Indiaโ€™s underwater ecosystems on the global stage.

Another Guinness World Record attempt, involving the tallest human stack underwater, is also planned at the same location.
