The partner of former Queensland Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk has been charged with multiple serious offences following a police investigation in Queensland. Police allege that Vahid Reza Adib has been charged with three counts of rape, along with additional alleged offences including sexual assault and deprivation of liberty.

The charges relate to an alleged incident involving a woman in her 30s at an apartment in Burleigh Heads in Gold Coast on March 30. Detectives previously executed a search warrant at an apartment linked to Adib as part of the investigation, seizing items for forensic examination.

Following police inquiries, he presented himself to investigators and was subsequently charged. He was granted police bail and is scheduled to appear before Southport Magistrates Court on May 14.
Adib is a geriatric doctor who has been reported to hold a substantial property portfolio valued at about $42 million. Palaszczuk, who served as Queensland Premier from 2015 to 2023, has not been accused of any wrongdoing and is not connected to the allegations.
The matter is now before the courts.
